Extinction Rebellion – Day IV

The pink boat is still in Oxford Circus, the junction is closed to traffic as are Parliament Square, Marble Arch & Waterloo Bridge.

I visited Waterloo Bridge earlier today, curious to see what was happening there, knowing this busy river crossing has been closed to traffic since Monday. Once again it was completely odd seeing a road, or in this case Waterloo Bridge without any traffic on it at all.

That didn’t mean it was empty though. No, at the south end of the bridge stalls had been setup,

and a gazebo to provide shade,

people were generally chilling out, on this new “Garden Bridge,”

whilst listening to what the campaigners were saying from a lorry with fitted with a PA system

and powered in part by solar panels.

There was even a half pipe setup for those wanting to perfect their tricks.

A lot of slogans and messages had been spray painted on the road surface,

the barriers on either side of the bridge

and banners attached to the railings.

It continues…
